Windows Connected starts a new day in the Dragon giveaway

We were so excited about giving away our HP HDX Dragon prize bundle today that we missed telling you about today's contest kickoff over at Windows Connected.  They have just kicked off their 7 day contest so you'd better get over there and get your entry in.  I would but I'm not eligible which doesn't seem fair to me.  :)

jkOnTheRun HP HDX Dragon contest- we have a winner!

Hp_hdx Wow, time flies when you're having fun and we certainly have had our fill of fun running the 31 Days of the Dragon contest here on jkOnTheRun.  Entries shut down last night at midnight and we have scoured through all of them and can now announce the big winner!  Kevin and I knew that with the 11 questions we required to be correctly answered that the ultimate winner would end up being the one who was closest to the official number of comments and posts that had been logged as of the contest kickoff time and we sure got that right.  We are happy to announce that Stefano Arduino is the big winner of the HP and BuzzCorps supplied HP HDX Dragon prize bundle for answering the 9 questions correctly and then coming amazingly close to the correct number of posts and comments.  It is obvious that Stefano spent quite some time counting posts and comments for his entry.  We are waiting for Stefano to get back to us with confirmation but we believe from his email address that he is in France.

For the record, here are the correct answers to the 11 questions that comprised the contest:

  1. What are James' and Kevin's ages as of today?  52 & 38
  2. How many times has James been to Paris?   11
  3. What is the name of the young lady besides Barbara who lives in Kevin's house?  Sydney
  4. What is special about Kevin's SUV?   Hybrid
  5. Kevin and James both use the same camera for video reviews.  Name it.  Canon Elura 100
  6. What sports car does Kevin drive and what year model is it?  1991 Corvette
  7. What is James' current ride and what year model is it? 2001 Volvo C70 convertible
  8. What famous music star did James open for in a concert years ago?   Donovan
  9. How many comments have been left on jkOnTheRun as of right now?  29,278
  10. How many posts have been published on jkOnTheRun as of right now?   7,918
  11. The producer/ director of what famous movie once left a comment on jkOTR?   Andrew Davis, Independence Day

Stefano has won the following prize bundle worth well north of $4,500:

31 Days of the Dragon starts later at Digital Home Thoughts

I thought I was just missing it but the folks at Digital Home Thoughts scheduled to start their HP HDX Dragon giveaway today let us know that they will get started later today. They had a server move that took longer than anticipated so they're hard at work trying to get their contest post out there so you know how to enter.  Keep checking over their later for the information you need to get qualified for that super $4,500 prize bundle supplied by HP and BuzzCorps.  The first site (AbsoluteVista) gave their Dragon package away yesterday to lucky winner Derek Hunter and Ars Technica should give theirs away today so keep checking to see if your entry was the lucky one.  Our Dragon package will be awarded on Monday so check back here to see who won.

Head to the Digital Lifestyle for your shot at an HP Dragon

HppavilionhdxentertainmentnotebookOne of my favorite sites gets to kick of their day week in the sun today: the Digital Lifestyle begins their contest to give away the massive, yet mobile, HP Pavilion HDX prize package. I've read the Digital Lifestyle for several years and not just because Ian Dixon is an all-around great guy. The site is filled with information on the digital home, media center and extender technologies and even fits it some UMPC tidbits too. Check on Ian's site for the details; I don't see them yet, so I'd be checking throughout the day.

Speaking of 7-day contests, the first one should be ending today. Good luck if you entered and don't forget that we have one to give away too. There's still time to enter and win a notebook package worth over $5,000!

Find the HP Dragon image at digitalmediaphile to win

DragonlogoonhdxIt's a good thing each of the 31 sites involved in the HP Pavilion HDX "Dragon" giveaway are running contests for seven days. You might need the whole week to win the prize package from digitalmediaphile! Barb Bowman inserted an image of this uber-notebook into an archived blog post so you'll need to scour her site to find it. There's a few more details you'll need, so check out the entry requirements over at digitalmediaphile and start searching. You don't really think that Barb used the words "HP Dragon" or "Pavilion HDX" in the image file name making it easy to find, do you? ;)

  1. What are James' and Kevin's ages as of today?
  2. How many times has James been to Paris?

  7. What is James' current ride and what year model is it?
  8. What famous music star did James open for in a concert years ago?

That's it, these are all the questions you need to answer.  Hey, you didn't expect us to just give the Dragon away for doing nothing, right?

Remember, only entries emailed to jkontheruncontest@gmail.com will qualify for the drawing.  Entries shut down at Midnight EST on May 11 and the winner will be announced sometime during the day of May 12.  Our decision will be final and entries are open to anyone anywhere so get them in.  Only one entry per person will be accepted.  Good luck!

ArsTechnica kicks off their HP "Dragon" contest

Panera1thumbYesterday, AbosoluteVista started the "31 Days of the Dragon" contest and today it's ArsTechnica's turn. Hop over to their site for their unique contest rules, which involve creating a game and including Ars in it somehow. Looks like it can be a custom game level, skin or whatever your skills can provide. Like all of the 31 sites giving away an HP Pavilion HDX notebook package, their contest will run for seven days. Each of the 31 packages is worth well over $5,000, so we'll be keeping you in the loop daily. We wouldn't want you to miss one of your many chances to win such an huge prize!

Oh and when I say "huge prize", I mean that figuratively and literally. Don't believe me? Just hit up Mobility Site where Jack Cook met up with Steven Hughes of BostonPocketPC. Steven has the giveaway Dragon for his site and took it to a local Panera Bread location to show Jack. This thing took up a whole table by itself as evidenced by this picture. Yowza!

MoGo Mouse winner announced!

The entries flew fast and furious and we are pleased to announce the winner of the brand new MoGo Mouse!  Pam T's entry exhibited all of the creativity and desire for the MoGo that we were looking for and she will soon be clicking on her very own flat mouse compliments of jkOnTheRun.  Pam T, send me an email with your shipping information and your very own MoGo Mouse will soon be wending its way to your mouseless hands.  You'll find Pam T's entry after the jump for those of you curious what it takes to win a MoGo.

It's time to give away a MoGo Mouse- who wants it?

Mogo_mouse The folks at Newton replaced my defective MoGo Mouse but since I already had bought an HP branded one the replacement is sitting in its brand new box.  We want to give it away to a lucky jkOnTheRun reader so listen up to what you need to do.  Think long and hard about how having a flat wireless mouse will affect your life and tell us in a comment.  Be creative and whimsical and eloquent in your comment and try and move us to sling the MoGo in your direction.  We'll keep the contest open for two days after which we'll close the comment thread and Kevin and I will select the entrant that we feel is the best.  Not one of those "randomly selected" winners, no we will blatantly select the one we feel is the coolest entry that moves us.  The MoGo is a $60 mouse so it's worth a little bit of work so pull out your old creative writing textbook(s) and get cracking.  Get your MoGo on and may the best writer win.  Our decision will be final no matter how much grousing you do or how much you disagree with us.  It's our site after all.  Note this contest is not open to employees of jkOnTheRun nor their families.

CONTEST IS CLOSED- WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.

Vista Ultimate winner announced!

The surprise contest that evolved out of the funny video of Kevin unboxing a Leopard was a fun one and we got a lot of good entries.  The correct answer to the question that asked "what is the prize?" is of course a full boxed version of Vista Ultimate and the lucky winner is Chris van Gorder.  Chris will be receiving his prize shortly so join me in congratulating him for winning a full copy of Vista Ultimate.  How cheeky of us to give a copy of Vista Ultimate on Mac OS X Leopard launch date.  We bad.

Dash winner missing- new winner announced!

This past week I've had something nagging me in the back of my mind and I realized what it was.  A couple of weeks ago we announced the winner of my used T-Mobile Dash and guess what?  The winner has not contacted me via email as instructed and since it's been so long it's only fair to pick another winner from all the entrants.

The new winner of the Dash is none other than Navdeep who needs to send me an email with shipping information.  Just click on my cartoon head to send the email.  Congratulations Navdeep!

WaterField Designs iPhone case winners announced

Waterfielddesignsiphonesmartcase The kids have spoken and here are your winners. Skip Coghill was the first entry randomly chosen, so he gets the iPhone Suede Jacket; just perfect for dining with the iPhone where jackets are required and ties are optional. Allen M. is no dummy as he gets the iPhone Smart Case; plus he reads the site and we hope we're raising his mobile device I.Q. Lastly, Tyler Arnold gets the iPhone Travel Case to keep his iPhone warm; actually, I should have said "firstly" rather than "lastly" since Tyler was the first commenter. These two kids have no rhyme or reason, but I think that's what make them good contest commissioners.

Congrats to all three winners; next step is to click my cartoon head to generate an e-mail. I'll need your home mailing address to get the cases out. Special thanks to WaterField Designs for providing the cases I reviewed and for allowing us to offer the cases to our readers!

Three WaterField Designs iPhone cases up for grabs

Waterfielddesignsiphonesmartcase Hopefully, you had a chance to check the WaterField Designs iPhone case video review we put together last month. In eight minutes, I covered three different cases provided by WaterField Designs:

Each of these cases are well designed while ranging in price, protection and functionality. Although my iPhone would love to be snuggled inside any one of these, we either return review products or give them to readers if allowed. Guess what: we checked with WaterField Designs and well....we're allowed! Here's the deal: IF you have an iPhone or definitely plan to get one, leave a comment in this post by end of day on Friday. My kids will pick three comments and each winner will get one of the cases. There's no choice of case here, you get what you get!

Dash winner announced!

Balloons_2 People called us crazy when we announced we were giving away an unlocked Dash, OK they call us crazy anyway, but even so the contest was a smashing success with over 150 entries!  Kevin's kids have rolled the old "pick a winner" dice and the winner of the Dash is none other than Tom Hodgers!   All Tom needs to do is send me an email by clicking on my cartoon head in the right sidebar and providing me with his email address and physical address for shipping.  Congratulations, Tom!

Would you like to win an unlocked T-Mobile Dash?

Dash There are a lot of choices when it comes to deciding which smartphone to buy, it's enough to give you fits.  Let us make that decision a little bit easier by giving you a T-Mobile Dash!  Not just for T-Mobile anymore, this Dash is totally unlocked to be used with any network.  It's not new, in fact this is the Dash I used for months and it's a sweet phone.  I even updated it to Windows Mobile 6 myself.  With any luck I may even be able to find the box and manual for it.  :)  So how can you win this Dash?

Post a comment here that says you'd like to win the Dash.  That's it, no long winded sucking up required.  Comments will be open until midnight CST Tuesday, August 28th and after Kevin's kids pick a random entry the winner will be announced sometime Wednesday the 29th.  You do not need to be present to win but I have to restrict the contest to readers in the US.  I know that sucks but the phone is only certified for use in the US and I don't want the wireless police to kick my door in and beat me about the face and neck with a Palm Foleo.  That would hurt.  Now where is that charger?

August 23, 2007

Slingbox Classic winner announced

Slingbox_classic Looks like plenty of folks are interested in their television on the go as we had a large number of entrants for the Slingbox Classic giveaway. If reader "Sixftunda" is in the U.S. or Canada (and isn't Tony Soprano hiding behind that name, yikes!), he or she gets the prize! Just click on my cartoon head to shoot me a note with your name and address so I can get the Slingbox out to you. One catch though: you have to reply here with a comment once you get hooked up and tell everyone what's the first show you "slung"...even if it IS High School Musical 2. ;) I'll keep digging around for any new or slightly used stuff here in the home office that's getting cleaner by the day!

August 20, 2007

Office clean-out continues: Slingbox Classic is up for grabs

Slinglbox_classic Now what am I going to do with two Slingboxes? Sure, I could stream multiple channels of content, but I don't want to be greedy. Besides there's only so many times I can watch "High School Musical 2". No, I'd rather share the Sling experience with a jkOTR reader, so here's your chance to win a barely used Slingbox Classic. [Sorry, I'm keeping the Slingbox PRO that's connected to my HDTV receiver!]

You know the drill; just leave a comment in this thread and my kids will pick a random winner on Friday. You can try to be clever in your comment, but I'll be honest, they won't read 'em all! ;) You have until the end of the day on Thursday to enter. This might not be popular with some, but I'm going to limit this one to our readers in the U.S. and Canada since Sling supports those countries and we've got the whole NTSC thing going on here for television broadcasts. Hey don't complain to me: go hit up your government and fuss about broadcast standards, 'k?

Belkin Easy Transfer Cable winner announced

The kids have spoken: congrats to Jordan Running who gets the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable! Part of me wonders if my children are secretly playing BlackJack for money, WebKinz or PokeMon cards. I noticed there were 21 comments in the contest thread and Jordan's was lucky number seven. Hmmm....anyway, Jordan just needs to click on my cartoon head in the sidebar to shoot me a note with his address and I'll get the cable out by tomorrow at the latest. My office is clean now, but I did come across a slightly used but well kept gadget that will be up for grabs later today. "Stay tuned" is the only clue I can give for now...

August 12, 2007

Belkin Easy Transfer Cable up for grabs

Belkin_easy_transfer_cable I'm cleaning my home office while streaming the PGA Championship from the Slingbox today and there's a bunch of gadgets, cables, software, phones and more lying everywhere. Well, my lack of cleanliness can be your gain as I've found something very useful to give away. I have a Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista that's unused and still in the bag with its software. It's $40 if you buy it and it's perfect for anyone who needs to move files from an XP computer to a Vista computer. I simply have no need for it, so it's up for grabs! Just leave a comment in this thread; nothing specific in your comment although if you have feedback for the site, we're always happy to take that. I'll have the kids pick a random commenter on Thursday, so get your comment in by the end of Wednesday, EDT. I will ship this to any address worldwide, but the recipient is responsible for any taxes or customs duties. Hmm...what else can I find here in the office....

SBSH Facade winner announced

The kids picked the comment number and Brian Baker wins a Facade license with this comment entry. Congratulations Brian, be sure to let us know how Facade works for you with the "on the way Blackjack"! I'll need Brian to shoot me a note by clicking on my cartoon head in the right sidebar. Once I have that note, we'll get the info over to our friends at SBSH to get the license key generated for you, Brian! Thanks everyone for entering.

July 15, 2007

Last day to enter the SBSH Facade giveaway!

Facade_landscape In case you forgot or keep missing the little reminder at the very tippy top of the home page, today's the last day to enter for a chance to win a Facade license from SBSH. This smartphone app is a solid Today plug-in with a relatively small memory footprint. My kids are itching to pick a number for the random winner, so hurry up and hit this post before midnight tonight (EDT). I'll count the number of comments (making sure there's no duplicates) and have the kids pick a number between 1 and the number of eligible entries. Be sure to indicate in your comment which smartphone you plan to install Facade on.

To avoid confusion, I'm closing comments in this post so that folks don't "enter" in the wrong spot. You want to comment here for a chance to win. Thanks to SBSH for providing the giveaway license!

Geekapalooza #5 contest winner announced!

Jk_icon_100pix Kevin_cartoon There is no question the jkOnTheRun Geekapalooza #5 contest in celebration of our third birthday was a smashing success!  First of all, 3 years in blog years is like 100 years in the online world.  :)  We received over 100 entries to the contest, no doubt due to the cool, unique, and very jkOnTheRunish prize package of the Sony U71 and complete mobile kit.

Kevin and I are happy to announce the winner of the contest prize package- Ron Pendleton!  Ron was randomly selected from all the entries with the correct answers to the 10 questions we posed for the contest.  Ron will receive his uber-cool prize package as soon as he sends us his shipping information via email (click our contest heads in the right sidebar) including name, address, and phone number for the shipper.  Congratulations Ron and thanks to all who entered!  We love you guys.  :)  Stay tuned for Geekapalooza #6 which will be coming soon.

Happy birthday to us- Geekapalooza #5- win a Sony U71!

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR ENTERING!

Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy 3rd birthday jkOnTheRunnnnnnn, happy birthday to us.

Kevin_cartoon_2 Jk_icon_100pix Can you believe it?  Three years ago today jkOnTheRun was born, with us never anticipating how far it would come in such a short time.  What began as a simple place to talk about mobile technology has grown into a site that hundreds of thousands of people come to visit each month.  I get seriously humbled when I think about that.  You folks are the best readers on the web bar none.  It's only fitting that our next contest in the Geekapalooza series should be starting on this our Blogiversary so we're throwing out all the stops!

This special contest has you playing for not one prize, not two but a whole mobile kit.  First up is the smooth leather Vaja Messenger Bag that you saw in this jkOnTheRun review.  This is one of the nicest gear bags you'll ever see, much less touch.  MSRP $380.

Vaja_bag003

Next up is something that we know you're going to love putting in that Vaja bag and hitting the road.  This prize is a device I consider to be the original ultra-mobile PC and one I used as my only computer for over a year.  Yes, the winner of this contest is going to walk away with my beloved Sony U71!  This device has been lovingly used by yours truly and is in perfect condition and even though it's almost 3 years old the specs still rival those of some UMPCs today:

  • Intel Pentium M 1.1 GHz
  • 512 MB memory
  • 30 GB hard drive
  • Docking cradle (USB ports, Firewire ports, VGA out)
  • Headphones with remote control
  • CF slot
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth (with included Billionton CF card)
  • Touch screen (5") 800 x 600
  • Note that the Sony USB folding keyboard is not included

Heck, rather than list everything it's got just go through all of the articles I've written about (often using) the Sony U and see for yourself.  MSRP- Priceless  :)

Sony_u71_handheld

This prize package is already one of the best you'll see anywhere but we can't stop there, no siree.  We can't give out a Sony U71 without throwing in some cool accessories to fit in that Vaja bag.  First up is the Sony carrying case with integrated stand which makes using the U with a keyboard very nice.  MSRP- who knows?

Sony_u71_stand_case

One case for the Sony U is not enough so we're throwing in the PDAir leather case for stylin' with the Sony.  MSRP- originally a lot.

Pdairvaiou50case1_s

Last but not least you may have seen my articles about the Sony U as part of one of the smallest desktop PCs when used with a Bluetooth keyboard so we just have to throw in that keyboard.  This is the original Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard that complements the Sony U perfectly.  There's something special about this keyboard though, it's been autographed by Kevin and I making it the official jkOnTheRun Bluetooth keyboard and hopefully adding the personal touch to this prize package.  MSRP- can't be bought at any price (mouse and phone not included).

Sony_desktop_1

Last but not least the lucky winner is going to snag an external Sony slimline DVD burner (DDR3) that connects to the Sony U dock.  The burner will boot the U and draws all needed power from the dock connection and originally retailed for $400.  Sorry I forgot to take a photo of the drive, it's the smallest external drive I've ever seen though.

So there you have the total prize package and I think you'll have to agree it's a doozy!  The winner is going to be one lucky person and since it's such a good package you're going to really have to work for this.  Read on after the jump to see what you have to do for this prize.

Geekapalooza #4 winner announced!

Verizon_chocolate_2 The deadline came and went for folks to win the Verizon Wireless LG Chocolate phone and we've got a winner. Devon had the correct three Wikipedia references to jkOnTheRun and was randomly selected for the mobile tech prize! Devon, just click on James' cartoon head to generate an e-mail to him and be sure to include your full name, mailing address and phone number so we can get you the LG Chocolate before it melts! ;)

Everyone needs to stay tuned because today is a special day. Don't check for it on your calendar as it won't be there, but it's super-special for a reason. That means a super-special contest prize is coming up. In fact, I can honestly say, it's not a prize that you can receive from anywhere else in the world as it's truly one-of-a-kind...'nuff said for now.

Geekapalooza #4- let the contest continue!

Verizon_chocolate_2 We are having a blast with the Geekapalooza contests here on jkOnTheRun.  The contests are in celebration of serving our 6 millionth page view (now long past) and so far we've given away a copy of Microsoft Vista Ultimate, a Samsung i320 smartphone (unlocked) and an i-mate JAQ3 smartphone (unlocked).  It's time to crank up contest #4 and this time you're playing for a sweet Verizon LG Chocolate phone.  Since it was donated by Verizon Wireless (thanks Verizon!) you need to be a US resident and in a location served by Verizon Wireless to use the phone.  The Chocolate phone is really sweet and has the following features:

  • All Digital Phone
  • 1.3 Megapixel Camera/Camcorder
  • Bluetooth Capable
  • microSD Memory Port
  • V CAST Music
  • V CAST Video
  • Music Player (supports MP3 and WMA formats)
  • Send vCard to another Bluetooth Capable Device
  • VZ Navigator Capable
  • Touch Sensitive Navigation Keys
  • Built–in Music Player with Customizable Player Themes
  • Bluetooth Stereo Headset Support for Listening to Music
  • Speaker–Independent Voice Recognition

OK, enough about this cool prize, here's what you have to do to win it.  As you've seen from the first three contests, jkOnTheRun is fortunate to have seen some of our articles recognized by Slashdot and we've also had them recognized by Wikipedia.  Here's what you need to do to win this phone:

Provide the links for all Wikipedia articles that reference a jkOnTheRun article, briefly explain what the link is for,  and put all that in a comment on this post.  Since this one is pretty easy we will leave the contest open until midnight 09 May, Wednesday night (CDT) and then randomly select the winner from all correct answers.  Get your answers in and have your shot at this cool phone from Verizon.  Big shout out to Verizon for sponsoring our little contest here.

i-mate JAQ3 winner announced - updated

I'll admit, it had to be a challenge to find my very first and my fifth comments here at jkOnTheRun. Both of them are from way back in 2004, not long after James started the blog. The first is from James' September post called "Connectivity and Reading". Here's my first comment. The fifth is about a month later in a post titled "The Untapped Tablet PC Market" and my comment is right here. Who knew that two or three years later, I'd go from a commenter to a contributor!

OK, more importantly, who won the i-mate JAQ3 smartphone? The winner is Emily who posted links to both my first and fifth comments right here. Congrats to Emily for finding the needles in the haystack! Emily, just click on James' cartoon head to shoot him an e-mail with your full name, address and phone number. Once again: congratulations! Stay tuned or subscribe to our RSS feed for the quickest notice of the next prize giveaway! We're not even close to being done in the Geekapalooza...

UPDATE: Ah yes, the miracles of modern technology are wonderful....when they work. We have a correction to post as well as an explanation...

Geekapalooza #2 winner announced!

The second contest in our Geekapalooza series was a complete success with over 50 entries, most of whom correctly identified the four jkOnTheRun articles that have been Slashdotted over the years.  Wow, that's a lot of /.ing.  We put all the names of those who correctly answered the questions into a hat and are happy to announce the winner is Yolanda Villa!  Yolanda wins an unlocked Samsung i320 phone in the original box with all of the gear that goes with it.  The i320 is a sweet ultra-thin smartphone running Windows Mobile 5 and is one of my all-time favorite phones.  I know that Yolanda is going to enjoy using this phone that is not only very functional but extremely cool looking.  To claim the prize all Yolanda needs to do is email me the shipping directions and we'll get the i320 on its way to its new home.  A big thanks to everyone who participated and don't be down in the dumps we still have a lot of super prizes to give away and Geekapalooza #3 will be firing up shortly.

We will be giving away the next prize on jkOnTheRun shortly so to be safe better add us to your RSS feeds.

Geekapalooza #2- win an unlocked Samsung i320 Smartphone!

Samsung_i320 Our first contest in our massive Geekapalooza contest was a smashing success but we're not going to rest on our laurels, no siree.  It's time to kick off the second contest in the series and some lucky winner is going to snap up a Samsung i320 Smartphone.  This is an evaluation phone that was hardly used so we're offering it up as the prize for Geekapalooza #2.  The phone is unlocked so it can be used by any carrier and you'll find the full specs after the jump.

Today's contest consists of two parts since the first contest was too easy.  The contest will run from now until midnight Monday morning (EDT) and we'll randomly choose the winner from all the entries that correctly answer the following two part question in the comments of this post:

A)  how many times has a jkOnTheRun article appeared on the front page of Slashdot? This is referred to as being Slashdotted (or /.ed for those in the know) and is a good indication for the popularity of a given web site.  Your answer must be exact.

B) provide the link(s) of each jkOnTheRun post that was Slashdotted.  We'll give you a hint- we've been Slashdotted more than once.  :)

Good luck and we'll announce the winner sometime on Monday but don't forget the contest closes Sunday night.

UPDATE:  This contest is now closed.

Vista contest winner announced!

Boy, we must have made the first scavenger hunt in our contest series way too easy as the very first commenter nailed it right out of the box.  Akula is the lucky winner of the boxed Windows Vista Ultimate prize for correctly finding the first hands-on look at the Sony U70 which was posted here on jkOnTheRun on July 1, 2004.  Boy is this blog old!  There were lots of good tries to get the right answer and we thank everyone for participating.  Before everyone starts complaining yes there were some posts about the Sony U70 that predated this one but this was the first jkOnTheRun hands-on post as it was posted the day I received the U70.  We'll make sure the rest of the scavenger hunts are a lot harder because this one was just too easy.

Akula, please email me (click on my cartoon head in the right sidebar) your full name, address and phone number so I can ship your box o' Vista right out.  Congratulations for being the first winner in our geekapalooza!

We will be giving away the next prize on jkOnTheRun shortly so to be safe better add us to your RSS feeds.

Over 6 million served- it's contest time at jkOnTheRun!

Kevin and I are very happy to announce our 6 millionth page view was served up this week, making jkOnTheRun one of the biggest (and best, but that’s just our opinion) mobile technology blogs on the Internets.  JK Icon 100pixKevin cartoonIn celebration of this momentous event, we are kicking off a mega-contest featuring a ton of very expensive prizes.  What we plan to do is kick off a new contest every few days with a super prize to be awarded to the first entrant who successfully completes the task.  Oh yes, these prizes are so good you’re going to have to work a little to win them.  Each contest will take the form of a scavenger hunt where we ask you to find a particular post (or comment) on jkOnTheRun.  It should be a lot of fun and to give you an idea how good the prizes are take a look at the sponsors who have donated loot for the contest:

We’re going to keep the contests running until we run out of prizes so everyone will have a shot at winning something.

Vista UltimateThe first contest is for a super prize, a copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate ($450 MSRP).  No pansy Home, Basic or Pro for our readers, this is the Ultimate version of Vista, a full license so you can install it on anything you want.  Here’s what you have to do to win the prize:

Leave a comment on this post containing the actual web link (permalink) from somewhere on jkOnTheRun that answers this question-

Find the very first post that offers a hands-on look at the Sony U70 ultra-portable PC.

That’s all you have to do, so get busy looking.  The first commenter with the correct link in the comment gets a full boxed version of Vista Ultimate.
