Documents To Go Premium Edition arrives for BlackBerry Bold

Dtg_leftNew BlackBerry Bold owners that want more productivity from their handset might be interested in DataViz’s Documents To Go Premium Edition that hit the web yesterday. At $69.99 for a license, it’s not cheap, but your Bold is worth it, no? You could also opt for a yearly subscription at $49.99, but I’d only consider that if you plan drop your Bold in the next twelve months or so. Here’s a taste of the features of the Premium Edition:

• Create new Word, Excel and PowerPoint files
• Spell check
• Advanced formatting for character, font and paragraph
• Advanced track changes including accept/reject changes, track new changes
• Insert and edit comments
• Password protection support
• Charting
• Table support
• Hyperlink support
• Bookmark support
• Edit and create auto bullets & numbering

In a nutshell, you’ve got a powerful way to create, edit and manage Microsoft Office documents on the Bold. DataViz is also throwing in their PDF To Go software, so you can easily view Adobe PDF files on that shiny new handset. There’s a 30-day trial available direct from DataViz and they say that a version for the BlackBerry Storm will appear later this month.

Couple things I found in my testing last night that hopefully help:

*Latest Microsoft Office formats worked: .pptx, .docx, .xlsx. Not always the case as we know on Goggle Apps.

* My unit I purchased from the AT&T store did NOT have the PDF reader installed. I am sure its a quick install.

* The screen representation looked REAL good, even the PowerPoint, which is often difficult to get the life-like view on a portable unit.

I just updated Melissa’s Blackberry Curve to 4.5 (T-Mobile) and she has the basic or non-premium version bundled free. Perhaps it’s read only? Hm.
