Skype 4.0 beta is NOT a full screen interface

We've seen a few places on the intrawebs touting (and complaining) that the new Skype 4.0 beta's interface is a full screen window and that's not accurate.  Kevin and I just had a video Skype session and the window is totally resizable like any other.  The new Skype interface is a bigger window than the older one but it's totally resizable and in fact I found it very well done the way the video resizes with no lag.  Here's a snap of the new interface:

Was that taken on the HP mini or one of your many other computing companions?

not bad, but the text or conversation notification is interesting. took a few to igure that out. but i think i like it better than the annoying flashing tab on the bottom..

if it is "totally resizable" how do I then resize it to just show my contact list and have the chat/video pop up in another window?

You are right, you can resize the window, but when you click on 'Call Phones' or 'Shop' you will notice that those pages then are cut off. This means that there is a minimum width you can resize the window to without loosing functionality.

With Skype 3 I have never felt the need to resize the window and I think that is exactly the problem for most users. Why introduce extra interface bloat on a program that has been working very well without it.

It seems that the main reason for Skype to use a bigger window is that now they can incorporate a hardware shop in their software and make some more money.

if anything the original interface had bloat enough as it was - chats had massive amounts of unused space and you couldn't get rid of it!
