HP TouchSmart- bringing touch to the iMac form

Man, HP is all over the map today and the new TouchSmart looks to give the iMac a run for its money with the thin all-in-one design that also incorporates touch.  Putting an entire PC with a 22-inch touchscreen into a slice only 2.6 inches thick, HP has made simple PC hookup just one power plug away.  HP's TouchSmart software turns that massive 22-inch screen into a sophisticated touch interface for accessing entertainment features of the PC yet keeps it easy to use.

I've fondled their original touchscreen one. I like the touch.

But come on, you just KNOW that underneath this new touch UI is that frikkin pig, Vista!!

We get it, Mike Cane, you hate Microsoft and all of it's products especially Vista. Vista bashing is old, tired, and played out.

I like HP's design lately, which needs to be good to compete with Apple and Sony. And the pricing is good too, which helps compete with Dell also. Just bought a Slimline, and it's a nice machine. While Vista is not the best OS ever, it's been fine so far (a couple of weeks).

Keep your stalking file straight. I like XP. Mainly. (But they can stuff SP3!)

I wouldn't say that it gives the iMac a run for its money yet, not until we know what is in it.

Thanks, you guys - and thanks, HP.
How am I going to explain away the 8th computer in a two-family house! Jeez, my TX2000 is barely cold yet.
By the way, a specs sheet for the two models is available for download at the Circuit City link (from the HP demo page select 'Reserve mine' and go to CC for the files) It's the CPU, the graphics and the hard drive which are different.

Well I don't know what I did, but I was directed to an HP page with the specifications...

I am certainly impressed with the price... $1499.99 is certainly a lot less than their previous TouchSmart.

With my greasy fingers - I would be forever be cleaning the screen....easy to do on my OQO...not so easy on such a big screen ;)

Damn i wish the touch smart technology was on the hp tc1100. iphone what.
