Dad's FiOS is rockin' and rollin'
I've spent the morning working at my father's house during his FiOS installation. The technician was very curious about my UMPC setup with EV-DO and folding Bluetooth keyboard and asked me what it was. I gave my typical reply: "That's my office." He got the last laugh on me though: once the FiOS was installed and I connected to it via WiFi, his work blew my EV-DO connection out of the water. You can see by the SpeedTest screenshot that my dad will be enjoying a speedy Internet pipe. What's impressive to me is that this is the slowest and least-expensive FiOS package that Verizon is currently offering in my area. Very nice!

Now you can drop by his house and borrow a cup of FIOS, please. :)

For my tech support for Dad or his FiOS charge? ;) I believe that Verizon quoted him $39.99 a month, plus taxes and fees.

I hate to brag but like to knock FIOS every once in a while. When the Verizon rep came to my door to tell me how FIOS was so much better I tild her what kindof througput I'm getting with RCN :)
I don't know how much it costs though, its part of our cable/phone/internet package.

This is funny.. 10 minutes after my last post Verizon rang the doorbell again to try and sell us their service. It was a little hard turning them away as they had sent two cute 20-somethings..
..WAIT! COME BACK!!

I wish my upload speed was that good. Nevermind, download speed is what counts the most!
