Ars Technica reviews the Modbook Tablet

Modbook1 Say what you will about how long it took Axiotron to get the Modbook to market the continued interest level over the wait demonstrates the desire many have for a Mac tablet.  The Modbook is still today the only one of those mythical beasts and Ars Technica has done a good review of real world usage of the Modbook so those sitting on the fence can get a glimpse of how it may work for them.  Their review is quite good and addresses how well (or not) Apple's InkWell handwriting recognition technology works on the Modbook as well as other things prospective owners must consider about the Modbook.  Not surprisingly one of the main problems they had with the Modbook was the fact that it is a slate only and not a convertible notebook.  Since the Modbook is made from a MacBook I have wondered why Axiotron didn't make the Modbook as a convertible with a swivel screen which would allow owners to use it as their primary laptop as well as a tablet.  Ars also points out that Axiotron's conversion from MacBook to Modbook adds some thickness to the form as well as half a pound of weight, surprising since it's losing the keyboard and a lot of metal.  Take a look at the review and see if you agree with their take on the utility of a Mac tablet.
