Video calling appears in Gizmo Project beta
While we use Skype here at jkOTR corporate for our regular video conference calls, Gizmo Project remains a solid competitor worth a look. In fact, the latest beta of the Giz offers the same video call features of Skype, but at a lower resolution. Video will transmit at 352 x 288 res, which is CIF to you and me; I say that's a strategic move on the resolution since I think there's a fair number of phones that record video at that res. Might we see a beta client for handhelds to follow?
While it's not high-quality VGA (640 x 480) like the latest Skype beta, it's a start, so if you want to show your face (or your bathrobe) to Gizmo buds on a PC, you can hit up the beta build right here.

I used gizmoproject for a year or so but had to finally switch to Skype when I couldn't make gizmo access my conf call #'s. I couldn't enter a passcode. I'm not alone with this problem either.
Sad thing since I have a Zoom VOIP modem/router and it allowed me to use a normal phone.
Now I'm doing a USB headset on my macbook and for conf calls there are no complaints.

bobm, that stinks. When I was in corporate (but working at home), I'd use Skype for the myriad of conference calls all day. The numeric keypad in Skype makes the proper tones for passcodes; does Gizmo's keypad not do the same? I see the keypad at the bottom left of my client, but I've never used it for that function.

I had the opposite problem. Skype couldn't dial my conference call #s but Gizmo has no problem with any kind of touch-tone systems so I switched to Gizmo.
